Let yourself be captivated by the combined magic of earth and fire!

Gaël will warmly welcome you to this workshop dedicated to the Japanese technique of raku, dating back to the 16th century. After a general introduction and a tour of the premises, he will start by explaining the theoretical foundations of the technique and reminding you of the essential safety rules when working with flames.

The morning will be dedicated to glazing three pieces (two bowls and one bottle) that have already been bisque fired, meaning they have undergone the first firing. You will then proceed to the kiln, where Gaël will assist you in launching the second firing.

After the lunch break, you will learn how to follow the temperature curve, which rises to 980 degrees Celsius, and perform the smoking process, following the principles of raku. The thermal shock that follows will reveal magnificent vibrant colors and stunning crackles!

You will conclude with brushing and finishing techniques to enhance your creations.

You will leave with your absolutely unique pieces, which will quickly find their place in your home!

Note: For this workshop, please remember to bring your lunch, which you can heat up in the microwave.
