Description

The great traveller, Victor Hugo, visited Montreuil-sur-Mer in 1837. A few years later, he would choose this picturesque fortified town as the setting for part of his novel “Les Misérables.” The exploration of Montreuil and Maréis, the ascent of the Le Touquet-Paris-Plage lighthouse, and, of course, the show “Juliette et les Misérables” will convince you that this little corner of the Opal Coast is worth a visit!

Day 1: Montreuil-sur-Mer, Setting of the Novel Les Misérables

Arrival in Montreuil in the early afternoon. Private tour of the fortified town with its picturesque alleys, charming little shops, and breath-taking viewpoints of the surroundings. Check-into your hotel. Dinner at the contemporary rotisserie of 2** Chef Alexandre Gauthier, featuring local, fresh, and seasonal ingredients cooked in a rustic yet refined, generous, and incredibly delicious manner… Showtime! Each year, 500 volunteers put on the costumes of the novel’s characters for this sound and light show set within the mysterious backdrop of the citadel… It’s an all-new production!

Day 2 – Mareis and the Phare de la Canche

Breakfast. Departure for Etaples-sur-Mer. Visit Mareis, a discovery centre about sea fishing, showcasing the daily life of sailors and the marine environment in the English Channel and North Sea. Lunch on your own. Departure for Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, an elegant resort with exceptional seaside villas. Guided tour of the Phare de la Canche (Canche Lighthouse). At 54 meters high, after climbing 274 steps, you’ll reach the most beautiful view of Le Touquet! Your ascent will be accompanied by a tasting of drinks and delicacies on the balcony of the Opal Coast. A splendid way to conclude your trip! End of our services.
